The West Coast Whitecaps are excited to welcome Shawn McIntosh as the U10A head coach.
My name is Shawn McIntosh, I
am 35 years old and I am a proud father of three sons, Johnson (9), Austin (6),
and Alex (4), and husband to Rachel. I grew up in Ripley and after living in
the GTA for 8 years my wife and I chose to move back home to Kincardine.
My exposure to the minor
hockey system in the GTA has largely shaped my coaching style and goals. This
will be my third year coaching, and I have developed a passion for the role,
recognizing the impact a positive, fun, and skill-focused environment can have
on young athletes. I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity and committed
to helping players develop both on and off the ice.
With five years of junior
hockey experience in Kincardine, Owen Sound, and Walkerton, and 15 years
playing competitively at the Senior level with the Toronto Pearson Jets in the
Southern Ontario Firefighter Hockey League, I bring a wealth of experience to
player development. My coaching philosophy is rooted in building strong skating
and fundamental skills, understanding that the work we put in now will lead to
success when these players reach 15-16 years old. I believe in teaching a
simple system that is easy to execute while allowing creativity to flourish. As
a career firefighter at Toronto Pearson Airport since the age of 20, I
understand the value of teamwork, discipline, and leadership, principles that I
bring to the rink every day.
Coach Shawn
